God is who he says he is

Good Morning!

Did you know that God is Who He says He is? I mean did you know it, really know it in your knower? Is the truth so vibrant to your faith that you can walk with your head up? This morning, I woke up with sort of a rap song going through my head. I never heard it before, and I believe it came from the truth that hit me when I opened my eyes. God is Who He says He is! The song went something like, "The devil is a liar. Oh yeah, oh yeah! The devil is a liar. Oh yeah, oh yeah! All glory goes to God. Oh yeah, oh yeah. All glory goes to God. Oh yeah, oh yeah. I can walk with my head held high. Oh yeah, oh yeah. I can walk with my head held high. Oh yeah. 'Cause there ain't no shame! The devil is a liar. Oh yeah, oh yeah. All glory goes to God. Oh yeah, oh yeah . " I'm not especially fond of rap music, and I never would have ever thought of something like that going through my mind. But there it was. Oh yeah, oh yeah!

Did you know that we can face each day, we can put our feet on the floor with joy and expectancy? Did you know that? Oh yeah, oh yeah! And did you know that the Bible actually tells us how to keep this joy? Oh yeah, oh yeah!

Ephesians 4:22 tells us to put off the old man. Do you know who the old man is (or perhaps I should say, who the old man was)? He's that nasty person who lived in your body until Christ came in with Life. Yup, when the Holy Spirit showed you the Truth (that's truth with a capital "T"), when He showed you, and you responded, "Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about! That's what I want." When you saw that, you reached for it, and it became yours. Oh yeah, oh yeah!

And each day you have to make a choice....put that old man off or keep him on and be miserable all day! The 24th verse says to put on the new man. You know who he is, don't you? He's the freshly washed, all cleaned up guy living inside you. He pushed the old guy out of the way when you said, "Oh yeah, oh yeah!" We are told the old man is dead. Let me tell you something. That guy doesn't die easy! Oh no, oh no! We have to put him off every day! If we don't, we're going to have a struggle with him every day we allow him to reign.

What connects the 22nd verse with the 24th? The answer, how to go about keeping the old guy out, and allowing the new you control. Do you ever struggle with your mind? Does your mind keep betraying you? Oh yeah, oh yeah! How are we going to make a stand, and make it stick? By renewing our minds, each and every day. That's the ticket! Don't listen to the devil. He's a liar. Don't listen to your old man, he doesn't know any better than to listen to the devil. You and I have to renew our thinking. We have to remind ourselves over and over again. It doesn't matter how you feel, what you're thinking or what line is being fed to you. God is Who He says He is! He says you are a born again child of His. He says that Jesus paid it all. He says that there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. So who are you going to believe? The devil? Your own thoughts? What someone tells you?

We can only renew our mind by reading it for ourselves. God allowed it to be put in writing so we could read it. We have a tendency to remember far more when we can read it than if we were told it. Read it every morning. Read it and let its truths sink into your spirit. You are all He says you are, and He is all that He says He is! Oh yeah, oh yeah! The secret is in the renewing of the mind. If we don't get into the Word, if we don't read it again and again, we'll forget. And when we forget, the devil will soon tell us something altogether different! Renew! Renew! Renew! Familiarize yourself with what God says, what God promises, and who you are in Him!

Doesn't that make you want to dance? Doesn't that make you want to shout? Who are you? Repeat after me, "I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST! " Oh yeah, oh yeah!
Have a great day of rejoicing!
